Sake anyone? Even tough all dinners and lunches are already fully booked you can always come by for a Sake (that we have from the beautiful Japanese Store Sato!) or a Japanese movie in the evenings. You can also find s selection of Japan related @printmattersstore magazines at amino and combine it with a YUZU lemonade. On some of the evenings there will be music from our friends @frankhonesty , Leo Gretener, and @a.wayes - don’t miss it:) On Sundays there is even a free Japanese class by Yoshiko and delish udon Noodle soups and there are plans to realise a karaoke this weeeeeek! SUGOI! 🍚🍶🍙🔥💕✨ Amino by Momomai is a project researching on traditional Japanese food initiated by Cécile Mai. Together with berlin based artist Junko Wada and Juri Egger Suetsugu the Amino project brings a little piece of Amino, a fisher village at the coast of Kyoto to Zürich. ( I once spent a month there - it is incredibly beautiful!) The three project organisators met in a onsen (hot spring) right at the ocean in Amino and this is how the project came to reality! I joined the project to do the art direction and design parts. 🍙🍶🍚🍑

ART WORKSHOP im Widderhotel mit Christian Neuenschwander dabei sein. Christian hat alle Visuals für das OISHII Pop Up in jeweils einem Pinselstrich gefertigt. Er zeigte uns einen Einblick in seine Arbeit - dazu gabs eine japanische Teezeremonie.

2020 Just Got More Creative - Meet Yael Anders

Sometimes I’m in awe of how multi-talented and cohesive a person or brand can be and Zurich based Yael Anders is definitely a wonderful example of this! Holding an impressive design filled CV and creating everything from jewelry to hand painted porcelain to paper goods (all ethically made and self designed)- I think she’s building a beautiful kingdom and I’m excited to see what the future holds for her and what is next!

Lindås Norrgård in Värmland is located by the lake Gapern right in between Stockholm and Oslo and close to the city Karlstad.

The typical Swedish house was built 30 years ago by the Family Lund / Magnussen and it is still familyowned together with the farm and conference / event space located nearby the house. The house will be rentable from spring 2020 and onwards. 

This summer we where rennovating the house, took all images to set up this project and defined a visual identity.

Just do it! laissez faire: An Freitag Abend reden wir über Themen wie trial & error, learning by doing, was es heisst, ein eigenes Projekt aufzugleisen und dieses während dem Studium weiterzuentwickeln. Wir wollen Leute dazu motivieren, etwas selbst zu machen und Projekte zu realisieren. Alles beginnt mit einer Idee und manchmal ist es besser, sich nicht an alle Regeln zu halten und einfach mal etwas auszuprobieren. Ganz im Sinne von «Let’s just do it»!

A while ago Wohnrevue Magazine invited me to the ATLANTIS Hotel in Zürich to write an article for their design magazine. The current edition is now available printed & online. Read my full article online - link in my profile.

HEIMSPIEL 

Normalerweise verewigt die Zürcher Illustratorin Yael Anders ihre scheinbar mühelos gekritzelten Designs auf recyceltem Papier. Bekannt ist sie für ihre liebevoll illustrierte Agenden. Neu transferiert sie die minimalistischen Entwürfe auch auf Porzellan. "UNSEEN" heisst Anders' von Hand gefertigte und in Zürich hergestellte Kleinauflage von Keramikgefässen. Klare Formen treffen hier auf intuitiv entstandene Linien und Porzellan vereint sich mit Plattgold. Durch die individuelle Bemalung ist jedes Stück ein Unikat.

Vom pulsierenden Hotel der 70er-Jahre über Studenten- wohnheim und Flüchtlingsunterkunft: Das «Atlantis» am Stadtrand von Zürich hat eine interessante Geschich- te. Das y-förmige Gebäude, eine Bauform, die man aus den 60er- Jahren kennt, ist nicht nur ein Architekturjuwel. Am Empfang des 2015 nach einer Komplettsanierung wiedererönnneten (wiedereröffneten?) «At- lantis by Giardino» wird man nun von einer Löwenstatue eines türkischen Künstlers begrüsst. Der «Züri Leu» ist eine Anspie- lung auf die interkulturelle Position des Hotels, wie uns am Emp- fang freundlich erklärt wird. Prägende Designelemente erkennt man bereits in der atmosphärischen Lobby, wo mit verschiedenen Materialien und Konzepten gearbeitet wurde. Die 70er-Jahre und die ursprünglich verwendeten Materialien stehen dabei klar im Fokus. Dazu werden lokale Akzente gesetzt. Die goldene Ché- mineeverkleidung ist mit einem Blätterdekor von Üetliberg Blättern?(Fände es schön, wenn so die Lokalität betont würde…) versehen, und das massive Receptionmöbel ist aus geschnitztem Nussbaum, beides Bezüge zum umliegenden Wald. Zwei Samtsessel wurden re- stauriert und stehen heute am gleichen Ort wie ursprünglich. Klare Formen, zum Beispiel der Marmortisch von Patricia Urquio- la, wurden mit floralen und spielerischen Leuchten oder weiteren Gestaltungselementen kombiniert. Die denkmalgeschützte Wen- deltreppe prägt den visuellen Ausdruck des Hotels. In den Gän- gen erinnern charmante Schwarzweiss-Fotografien ans ehema- lige Atlantis. In den Zimmern wurde ebenfalls mit klaren Formen und hochwertigen Materialien gearbeitet. Nur die oberste Etage, die grösste Suite Europas, unterscheidet sich visuell klar vom Rest des Gebäudes und ist mit grünem Marmor, Gold und Kri- stall ausgestattet. Bevor wir im Restaurant Hide & Seek die ayur- vedisch inspirierte Küche mit Blick über die Stadt geniessen, ent- spannen wir uns im mediterran gestalteten Spa.

Das «Atlantis by Giardino» ist eine Kombination diverser Stilwelten, was auch das Hauptkonzept des Hauses zu sein scheint. Eine kom- plexe Aufgabe, die sorgfältig und hochwertig umgesetzt wurde. Am nächsten Morgen fahre ich fahre nach einem Frühstück auf der grossen Aussenterrasse in mein Zürcher Atelier. Eine schöne, kleine Auszeit am Rande der eigenen Stadt! YA

Die Kollektion „UNSEEN“ umfasst Gefässe aus Porzellan für Tee, Kaffee, Pflanzen etc. Die Objekte spielen elegant mit Kontrasten: Klare, minimalistische Formen treffen auf intuitiv entstandene Linien und organische Muster. Pures Porzellan-Weiss kontrastiert mit Anthrazit- Tönen und Plattgold. Durch individuelle Glasuren und Handbemalung wird aus dem ursprünglich seriell gegossenem und normierten Objekt ein Unikat. UNSEEN wurde komplett in Zürich entworfen und von Hand hergestellt.
